Canadian firm introduces the first fully mobile DVT Prevention
Saringer Life Science Technologies Inc. of Oakville, Ontario, has developed a state of the art medical device for the prevention of Deep Vein Thrombosis and treatment of other conditions of venous insufficiency. Branded "Venowave", the device is a peristaltic pump that is worn on the patients calf, and which applies upward pressure in repetitive waves to keep blood flowing and preventing pooling in the lower limbs and feet with the risk of clot formation.
The device can be worn by the patient in normal lifestyle activites including walking, driving, and travelling by air, train or bus or car, without discomfort and without being connected to external controls or power sources.
Before the introduction of Venowave, similar devices were restricted to use in hospitals or at home in prone or sitting situations only, allowing little or no mobilty for the patient. This restrictive design often leads to poor compliance levels among patients at risk of DVT.
The product is being marketed through distributors in Canada and the US for in-hospital use and for patient self treatment.
Patients suffering from venous insufficency conditions such as Deep Vein Thrombosis, Post Thrombotic Syndrome, Lymphedema, post operative pain and swelling, treatment of leg swelling, varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency, poor blood circulation and treatment of intermittent claudication.
Saringer Life Science Technologies was founded by engineer/inventor John Saringer who works extensively with leading physicians/surgeons in the development of new and improved medical treatment devices for the enhancement of medical treatment techniques and improved patient outcomes. The company is privately owned.
